We are thrilled to announce that Malindi Flour Millers has earned top honors on the national stage for our commitment to nutrition and quality. In the Kenya Millers Fortification Index (KMFI) 2024 cycle, we proudly won the Nutrition Champion Award, recognizing our leadership in food fortification. We followed this achievement by sweeping the KMFI 2025 Awards in the maize flour category – our flagship Unga King and popular Mumtaz maize flours tied for 1st Place, and our trusted Riziki maize flour earned 2nd Place. These accolades reflect our dedication to producing flour that not only tastes great but also nourishes Kenyan families with essential nutrients.
What is the Kenya Millers Fortification Index (KMFI)?
The Kenya Millers Fortification Index (KMFI) is an industry-led, self-regulatory benchmarking program created to recognize and motivate millers who consistently meet Kenya’s fortification standards for staple foods. It was launched in 2023 at the Kenya Food Processing & Nutrition Leadership Forum, convened by TechnoServe together with the Cereal Millers Association (CMA). Its goal is to strengthen millers’ commitment to delivering adequately fortified wheat flour, maize flour, and other staples, providing consumers with clearer signals about brands that prioritize nutrition and quality.
Participating millers share standardized information on their fortification practices and are benchmarked through a process that combines company self-assessment with independent product testing. Results are compiled into ranked outcomes that are announced at the annual KMFI Awards.
